27-03-20 Eolas do Scoláirí/do Thuismitheoirí - Information for Students/Parents

27-Márta-20

A chairde,

Móra daoibh ar maidin agus tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh go léir ar bhur sáimhín só. Tá coicís den scaradh sóisialta agus den chianfhoghlaim curtha dínn anois. Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil le pobal na scoile trí chéile. Tá na cúinsí reatha an-dian ar chuile dhuine ach le misneach, le nuálaíocht agus ‘ar scáth a chéile’ atáimid ag tabhairt faoi na dúshláin nua seo atá timpeall orainn go léir.

Iarraim an athuair ar ár gcuid scoláirí gan dearmad a dhéanamh thar an deireadh seachtaine, a seacht ndícheall a dhéanamh, i dtaca le scoitheadh sóisialta agus le glaineacht láimhe. Ní mór dúinn go léir ár gcuid a dhéanamh chun scaipeadh Covid-19 a shrianadh.

Ba mhaith liom cur i gcuimhne dár scoláirí go léir a thábhactaí is atá sé go bhfuil a ndícheall á dhéanamh acu coinneáil suas leis an obair a chuireann a gcuid muinteoirí ar fáil dóibh. Cuirfear obair na seachtaine seo chugainn ar fáil do scoláirí leis an ríomhphost níos déanaí inniu. Tá éagsúlacht iontach ann maidir leis na háiseanna, na modhanna agus na hardáin atá in úsáid ag ár múinteoirí agus ag ár scoláirí faoi láthair. Idir Showbie, Google Classroom, Google Forms, Zoom, Mentimeter, Powerpoint, agus fiú an ríomhphost seanfhaiseanta, tá ag éirí thar cionn leo agus molaim iad go léir go hard na spéire.

Beidh laethanta saoire na Cásca linn an lá seo an tseachtain seo chugainn. Mar a luaigh mé inné, beidh scíth tuillte go maith againn go léir faoin am sin. Mar is iondúil ag an am seo den bhliain áfach, beidh ar scoláirí i mblianta 3, 5 agus 6 roinnt dul siar a dhéanamh thar laethanta saoire na Cásca, ach le cúnamh Dé, ní bheidh siad chomh crúógach is a bhí siad le coicís anuas. Bíodh saoire agat agus is fearrde thú í a deirtí. Ní fheadar faoi saoire ach gan aon agó, beidh sos de shaghas éigin ag teastáil ó chuile dhuine faoin Aoine seo chugainn.

ÁISEANNA NUA

Tá suíomh idirlín nua, https://examrevision.ietagtha ar an bhfód le fíordhéanaí. Tá áiseanna den scoth ar an suíomh seo do scoláirí atá ag tabhairt faoin Teastas Sóisearach agus faoin Ardteist. Faoi láthair tá áiseanna ar fáil ar an suíomh seo don Mhata, don Tír Eolaíocht agus don Ghnó. Faoi láthair is féidir cuntas ‘Premium’ a oscailt saor in aisce go dtí 12-04-20. Má osclaíonn scoláirí ‘Free Student Account’ ar dtús, tabharfar an deis dóibh ansin uasghrádú do chuntas ‘Premium’ saor in aisce. Beidh an cód ‘SCHOOLCLOSURE’ ag teastáil leis an deis iontach seo a thapú.

Tá tacaíocht ar líne ar fáil saor in aisce ón Maths Support Centre UCD. Téigh chuig an suíomh idirlín, https://www.ucd.ie/msc/ le coinne a dhéanamh nó chun breathnú ar chuid de na 143 fhíseán saor in aisce atá ar fáil ann.

Tá an chóip is déanaí den iris Ghaeilge Eipic ar fáil ar líne anois. Cliceáil ar an nasc seo https://www.cogg.ie/en/eipic%21-available-online/ chun rochtain a fháil ar an áis léitheoireachta seo atá ar ardchaighdeán.

Rinne mé dearmad glan inné an PDF faoin ióga a cheangailt leis an ríomhphost – mo leithcséal! Tá an t-eolas ceangailte agam leis seo i bhfoirm PDF agus PNG. Sula dtosaíonn sibh ag léamh faoin ióga b’fhéidir go mba mhaith libh breathnú ar fhíseán ióga úrnua as Gaeilge atá oiriúnach don chlann uilig. Tá an físeán sin ar fáil ag an nasc seo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU5wrpzxa3o&app=desktop

Go n-éirí go geal libh! Namaste!

TRÁTH NA GCEIST CHOLÁISTE MHUIRE

Tá 34 scoláire tar éis páirt a ghlacadh sa chomórtas go nuige seo agus tá géariomaíocht eatarthu. Tá ainmneacha na scoláirí atá ar bharr chlár na gcinnirí reatha thíos! A chairde,

Good morning and I hope that you are all relaxed and untroubled this morning. We have by now come through a fortnight of social distancing and distance learning. I wish to thank the entire school community. Current circumstances are very difficult for everyone but we are facing the new challenges that are all around us with courage, innovation and togetherness.

I ask once again of our students that they do not forget over the weekend that they must do their best in relation to social distancing and hand hygiene. We all must do what we can to limit the spread of Covid-19.

I wish to remind our students also that they must do their utmost to keep up with the work that their teachers are assigning for them. Next week’s work will be shared with the students via email later today. There is wonderful variety in relation to the resources, methods and platforms that our teachers and students are currently using. Whether it is Showbie, Google Classroom, Google Forms, Zoom, Mentimeter, Powerpoint, or even good old fashioned email, they are flourishing and I cannot praise them highly enough.

We will have our Easter holidays this day next week. As I mentioned yesterday, we will all have truly earned a break by then. As is normal at this time of year however, students in years 3, 5 and 6 will need to do a certain amount of revision during the Easter holidays, but hopefully, they will not be as busy as they have been for the last fortnight. They used to say, have a holiday and you will be all the better for it. I am not so sure about a holiday, but without any doubt everyone will need a break of some sorts by next Friday.

NEW RESOURCES

A new website, https://examrevision.ie was launched recently. There are excellent resources on this website for both Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students. At present there are resources available on this website for Maths, Geography and Business. Students can open a free ‘Premium’ account until 12-04-20. If students open a ‘Free Student Account’ first, they will then be given the opportunity to upgrade to a ‘Premium’ account, free of charge. The code ‘SCHOOLCLOSURE’ is required in order to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Online support is available from the Maths Support Centre UCD. Go to the website, https://www.ucd.ie/msc/ to make an appointment or to view some of the 143 free videos that are available there.

The latest edition of the Irish language magazine Eipic is now available online. Click on this link https://www.cogg.ie/en/eipic%21-available-online/ to access this superb reading resource.

I completely forgot yesterday to attach the PDF about yoga to the email – apologies! I have attached the information here in both PDF and PNG formats. Before you start to read about yoga, perhaps you might like to watch a brand new yoga video which is suitable for all the family. The video is available at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU5wrpzxa3o&app=desktop

The best of luck! Namaste!
